Two brave, wild and wondrous women are celebrated at the next upcoming Mystic Poet Pairing hosted by cellist Allannah Dow and pianist Leah Hokanson; the eloquent poetic work of Germany’s Hildegard of Bingen (1098 – 17 September 1179), saint, poet, writer, mystic, composer, abbess and philosopher, is on the roster at the Bethlehem Centre. This event takes place at 2 pm, Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 at 2371 Arbot Rd. Poet Pairings take place regularly on the last Sunday of the month and everyone is welcome.
Besides being recognized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church for centuries, in 2012 Hildegard of Bingen was titled by Pope Benedict XVI as a Doctor of the Church. Hildegard’s writings reflect her curious intellect, creativity and adventurous spirit.
We will also present the work of early pioneer female author, English anchoress, and Christian mystic; Julian of Norwich (c. 8 November 1342 – c. 1416).
As innovators during their lifetimes, both Hildegard of Bingen and Julian of Norwich were exceptionally gifted as writers and their work is still treasured today. Celebrate and explore these mystics with us, their powerful words have been making a ripple effect for centuries. This is phenomenally divine feminine wisdom that still resonates with us in the modern era. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about these exciting early innovators. Limited seating. Admission for this event is by donation.
