Jenny Ritter and Ben Zyakin are coastal musical cohorts – two songwriters so skilled at raising those little hairs on arms, their words and music sending your thoughts spiralling up into the ether.
Confidently laying claim to the genre “indie-folk” Jenny Ritter writes complicated and unique pop-tinged landscapes. Originally from Vancouver Island, She is a seriously accomplished instrumentalist and supports her clear, sweet vocals with complex banjo and guitar parts. A rotating cast of bandmates includes members of Fish & Bird, The Deep Dark Woods, and The Bills. Jenny is on tour now with her trio, playing only the most intimate venues on the west coast and collaborating with local legends.
Zyakin cut his teeth on the five-string banjo and twelve string guitar traveling throughout the US playing street corners and festivals. He currently makes his home in Nanaimo, BC where he recently released his first recording in more than a decade. This new debut will feature original songs plodding or prancing their way toward an understanding of struggle and joy.
