Monday, May 15th, 2017 – Saturday, May 20th, 2017
9:30am 2:00pm 6:00pm
Moving, singing, being, creating, an informal performance that connects us to each other and to the waters that surround us.
Water is personal. Water is political. Water is essential. Water is spiritual. What is water to you? Water has always connected this country. Let’s see how it connects us.
Participants of all ages will create and perform within a site-specific context with guest artists. The workshop will take place from May 15-20 at outdoor water sights to be determined. You choose which of the 3 daily 2 hour sessions to join…or join them all; 9:30am, 2:00pm, 6:00pm.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! This is perfect for the general, intergenerational public, for dancers, actors, musicians and movers of all cultural heritages and mostly for people who love water! The goal of the project is to find shared roots in this place we call home, to build community and inspire water stewardship through creativity with, around and in local waters.
You will gain a deep connection to our environmental waters, other participants and to yourself through participating in this meaningful creative exchange.
Technical rehearsal and performance is May 20. Willing participants will show the final creation again July 6 at a show at InFrinGinG Dance Festival.
Crimson Coast Dance Society is proud to work with guest artist, Nicole Mion, to invite our community to gather together and collaborate with our sacred waters.
Conceived by Nicole (Springboard Performance, Calgary, AB), She and Danielea Castell (BC/China), Genevieve Johnson will work closely to facilitate participants to create a site specific performance piece together called Body of Water.
